Madrid starts a campaign to promote the city as a tourist destination in the U.S.

Madrid has started a campaign to attract travellers from the US. As the Spanish flag carrier Iberia expands its US network with new destinations such as Washington and Dallas, the region aims to become the favourite European destination for North American tourists, who usually spend more money than travellers from other countries.

Luxury hotels in Europe are recovering

According to HotStats, luxury hotels across Europe are as profitable as they were in 2019. In March 2022, their Gross Operating Profit per Available Room (GOPPAR) was only 4 USD below the figure in March 2019 and 187% higher than at the same period a year ago.

Asian travellers are more likely to choose a low-price tourist destination

Though weather and natural beauty are among the main reasons to choose a holiday destination, price-performance relationship and overall cost of the trip play a significant role in the decision-making process. Tourists coming from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore are the most cost sensitive.

Air France is revamping its First Class

Before Covid, many airlines around the world were looking into expanding their Business Class and introducing a Premium Economy cabin on board of their long-haul flights at the expense of their First-Class product. After the pandemic, it seems like the tide has turned. Air France has announced a revamp of La Premiere Suites, its First Class offering.

Madrid will become once again the world capital of luxury tourism

From October 5th to October 7th, 2022, Madrid will host the second edition of Forward_MAD, a meeting point for professionals from the tourism industry such as travel agencies, investment funds, hoteliers, transportation companies, among others. The tourism ecosystem will get together to discuss trends and strategies in the luxury tourism segment.
